Alabama pastor waters neighbor’s plants, gets sent to jail
This five-part video series documents the wrongful arrest of Pastor Michael Jennings, who was detained by Childersburg police while watering his neighbor’s flowers in May 2022. Despite identifying himself as “Pastor Jennings” and the neighbor later admitting she had mistaken him for a suspicious person, Jennings was arrested on a charge of obstructing government operations—a charge that was dismissed within days. Across the series, viewers see the full progression of events through police body-camera footage, including the moment the neighbor confesses her mistake, the tense interactions with officers, and the aftermath involving Jennings’ family. Jennings has since filed a federal lawsuit alleging wrongful arrest and false imprisonment.
