Birmingham 5 Points South mass shooting kills 4
A mass shooting in Birmingham, Alabama, left four people dead and at least 17 others injured in the city’s Five Points South entertainment district. Multiple shooters pulled up in a car, exited, and opened fire before fleeing. Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond said the shooting outside of Hush Lounge, a hookah and cigar lounge, may have been a murder-for-hire. The suspected target of the shooting was among the dead and more than 100 shell casings were collected at the scene.
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin on Sunday morning called on Alabama legislators to ban gun conversion devices such as Glock switches after witnesses said some of the gunfire sounded like it came from a gun outfitted with a switch that converts it to a fully automatic weapon.
