Two deaths at Williamson Donald Correctional Facility raise the 2023 death count there to 28. 40 inmates died at that prison in 2022.The family of an inmate who died in prison hired a pathologist to conduct a second autopsy which revealed that 43-year-old Brandon Dotson was missing his heart.

Another family claims their loved one was missing organs after dying in an Alabama prison. At the time of his death, 74-year-old Charles Singleton was incarcerated at the Hamilton Aged and Infirmed prison in Hamilton, Alabama. His family claims in court records that Singleton’s brain was missing, along with his other internal organs, after his body was returned from an autopsy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
